Major Retailers Want to Give Our School Money!
Dear Parents,
We’re pleased to share some exciting news about a tuition program for our school. It’s called “scrip”, and it’s the tuition program that works while you shop.
Scrip is simply a word that means “substitute money” – in other words, scrip is gift certificates from national and local retailers. They’re the same gift certificates that you buy at the store. Many popular retailers participate in our scrip program including JCPenny, The Gap, Shell, Pizza Hut, Red Lobster and many, many others.
Scrip Program – This program is the purchase by the School of gift cards or merchandise certificates from a merchant or reseller at a discount from the face value of the cards/certificates. The School then sells the cards/certificates to parents, family members, or the general public at face value. A portion of the discount is used as administrative expenses.
Shared Rebate Program – The school shares the profit of the transaction with the purchaser, after the applicable administration fee is deducted, with the following options:
(a) to designate the shared rebate for the benefit of the School (net amount would be tax deductible by the purchaser)
(b) to designate the rebate for a particular tuition account (not tax deductible)
(c) to retain the rebate for themselves in the form of cash (not tax deductible)
The beauty of scrip is that you put your regular household shopping dollars to work. You earn money for our school without spending a single additional penny. Just spend your regular shopping dollars with scrip at the stores that participate in the scrip program! And scrip can be used for just about any household purchase including food, clothing, entertainment, gasoline and even dining out.
Retailers can be found on the scrip website: www.glscrip.com. All orders are paid by check and made out to St. John the Baptist Regional Catholic School. They must be paid in advance. Orders are due by the second and fourth Monday of each month and delivered on Friday for your weekend shopping.
Please contact the school office if you would like an order form….our first order will be placed on Monday, September 26, 2011.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Jeanne Anderson
